Was chatting with a friend who used to play on AoA and said something that is both funny and yet sad at the same time.
“What a world we live in, when the staff of a s*xMUSH are far more competent and reasonable than on AoA.”

If there was a realistic option for a Star Wars MUSH, that had even half the grid that AoA has, I doubt I would stay there for long - other than keeping an alt there for communication reasons for people that might pop in only ever so often.
Thanks for your comments: I play there, and I think, so far, I haven’t outed myself, but I’ve always heard about this sort of thing and said, ‘Don’t get involved, won’t involve me.’ Hearing about players getting shitted on on a staff chat, though, one of those things I knew had been happening, but as long as I didn’t know it was happening, I could surf along. But now my paranoia is kicking in and considering my alt, and the profession/businesses she has, well - I just got a lot more paranoid.
I started playing there just before the inciting event for this thread, even got to play with Hex and company, and it was great. But every time I see a group of people arrive, and start to play with them, a month or two down the road, here we go again.
And no, havne’t even tried to play with Sumi and Company, because even I knew better.
But considering what you are saying, even I am beginning to wonder if it’s worth keeping the chars there. Not that I have been getting loads of RP since the last batch of people came and went.
Once agian, thanks for speaking up!

Why oh why, can’t we have a quality SW MUSH run by adults…
If that place weren’t such a s-show with all the issues, most of it on the staff’s end, it would be tempting. Been wanting to get in on an active SW place for ages, but the drama and cliques of that place…

@Jennkryst you cannot bait me with the idea of a BattleTech MUSH then suddenly waylay me with Exalted! All I want is to take a contract in my MAD-5M against some Capellans and drain two cases of Timbiqui Dark when I get back to the mechbay!
mmmmmmm
Battletech. Last time I did online Battletech was BT3056 (Think it was, it was the big BT Mux) in the mid 90’s. But the idea of incorporating MegaMek is pretty good, I must say.
I wish I was suprised as well, between that one toxic person that seems to have total control over Cujo, Discordia being… erratic and seemingly against any RP that she doesn’t like - a few days ago there was talk on the RP channel about droid repairs and parts, and she had a fit about “Don’t you talk about buying Droid parts on this channel!” even though they were talking about an RP between a droid repiar specialist and someone needing repairs. And that’s without the other issues with some of the other staff.
Seems all too often Discordia’s mantra on dealing with players is shoot, shoot, aim.
Why can’t we have a nice SW MUSH that is run by stable personalities, has a nice large-ish grid (As much as I think AoA’s grid is pretty expansive and nice, it’s a bit too much at times…), isn’t run by people cough Disc cough who are death on anything other than G rated stuff, while making sure that the place isn’t overrun by the Shang crowd.

Something inspired by the Temeraire series.
Funny thing is, is that I’ve read that the Author admits to have been a regular on PernMUSH back in the 90’s. So would probably be quite OK with a MUSH being made.
@Floof Soucon was a good time; I was there for a few years around 05-07. I recall Shakti was a heck of a lot of fun.
I recall playing on a Heavy Gear MUSH back in the day - died while I was overseas in 04.
Looooong time ago, while at uni got my start on PernMUSH, back when the ramp was still there. Thinking about that really makes me feel old…
@Popes I couldn’t care less either way, just don’t be a hypocrite about it. I can put up with a lot of stupid stuff - I’ve survived Gold Rider Drama that still boggles my mind back in the early days of Pernworld, I can survive anything after that.
(Was on the sands, standing for a Green, with no desire to be anything else, and was the last one to impress: but not green, gold: and the staff of that weyr sending me a page, “Here, the place is yours now, have fun!” and desting themselves)
But still, I would love a SW mush that isn’t being run by a staff that isn’t packed with out-for-themselves types, and a head wizard that is more concerned with mollifying said staff than making it good for the players as a whole.
A pet peeve was hearing that someone working at one of the clubs got on blast by one staffer because she had an outrageous idea of playing the profession to the tune of that club, even if she was keeping it reasonably PGish.
Either leave the place open and the professions on the books and leave them alone for doing it, or close those clubs and take the profession off the list.
Why can’t we have a nice SW place that isn’t awash in drama?
But I would love to see one that has a good, large grid, some nice tools (As much as the Space system annoys me with the time requirements, I have to admit, it’s a clever way to show distances involved), and where people can play as they will without someone breathing down their neck?
And hey, I was all about those Pern Games back in that time frame. As long as you didn’t catch goldie fever it wasn’t so bad…
So, I heard Cujo went off and fired Maelstrom - not sure why, but sounds like new drama! Any details out there?

Old PernMUSH - I remember Kristine(?) in yellow footy jammies in Ruatha Hold back before they had to close it being always good for a lot of laughs. Ofira, Selchin, and Selandra being names to this day I miss.
Loads and loads of old friends I have since lost all track of from there.
I was Kindre! Back when Ruatha and Benden were things and we had to move to Telgar. I’m actually FB friends with a handful of old NCers like Jehrina and Nimiriel and others whose NC names I forget. I miss the bovine ppl! To moo, bovine
I remember Ofira and Selandra I thiiiink. NC friends drug me to firan in like 2001 and I think I totally stopped playing in 2002. Good times though omg.
See what happens when @KarmaBum summons my dino bones - I get all excited and can’t remember 1/10th of the stuff I was excited about haha.
Right? I’m trying to remember all my friends from there. Always planned on heading up to High Reaches as I loved the people you had there at that time. Met a bunch of the High Reaches crowd at DragonCon 99 too. As to FB, PernMUSH Refugees I’m assuming?
Remember trying to get some WoD VtM stuff to Shasta from SouCon, but never did manage to pull it off.
