      You right, 2025. Time to lower my expectations. This is my lane, I’ll be right here in it.

        My peeve remains wanting to start a character on a game somewhere knowing full well I don’t honestly know if I have the time to play enough to avoid getting idled out.

        I’ve been running a game for almost 2 years, and I do miss being on the other side of the screen sometimes. Especially when there are cool concepts out there that I want to see succeed.

          Today my mu peeve is that I haven’t been on a mu since christmas, nothing appeals to me so I am not joining anywhere, and I think I’m just turning into Bones McCoy and everything is newfangled and gonna scramble my atoms.

          let it be a challenge to you

            @sao You’re a doctor! Not a MU* player.

              My peeve today is leaving a game I invested in because a person I was friends with was uncomfortable with the direction it was going. Our characters had stories together that were tightly intertwined. Then find out two years later, after you trash talk the admins and the game (deservedly), that they go back on that same character, erase you from their character history and don’t even talk to you about it. Like they just don’t care. Like you never mattered.

              Internet friends are fake. Don’t ever trust them. (A lesson I keep having to learn.)

                @SqeakyClean

                People on the internet can indeed be fake. But it’s worth trying, all the same. I have online friendships that have endured for several decades, and they’re often the people who will sit up with me at 3AM on my darkest days and keep me afloat.

                Whatever’s been happening, try not to let it get you cynical. 😞

                  @SqeakyClean What did they have to say for themselves?

                    @Juniper they don’t have to answer to me. I didn’t press the question either. I just removed them from my life. I’m in the ‘if I don’t like what you’re doing I just won’t associate with you’ era of my life. Good vibes only, please.

                      As it turns out, MOST internet friends are people. And people are the worst…

                        AI is ruining this hobby. That’s my gripe. It’s ruining my respect for players, staff, my interest in games, my desire to RP. I see old friends whose original writing I’ve always enjoyed, flaunting AI use in a way that makes me feel like they must have never even appreciated their own talent as much as I did. I see promising games lose all promise the second I step on grid and see a sea of AI slop. And I see younger generation, newer players defending it in a way that makes me feel like the future of this hobby is just dead for me, an old fogey whose love of authentic human creativity, warts and all, makes me old-fashioned.

                        I hate it. I hate it on a spiritual and existential level.

                            @Kestrel Honestly of all the reasons people have claimed that this hobby is dying, I think use of AI might be the thing that finally does kill it.
