I think pegging me as a ‘clique ally’ is probably pretty accurate. I think my relative newness to the community (only here 4-5 years as opposed to 20) probably keeps me from being considered part of the core, but I earn my allyship by being vocally anti-idiocy.

some of those ‘core’ people aren’t even 20 years old! I bet!

idk, just lol at the idea of me ever being part of something that influences me to say things I don’t want to say, or NOT to say things I want to say.

I’m just annoyed I’m several pages back in the most upvoted list, I’ve posted GOLD that has gotten nothing, which is totes proof there is no clique, else I’d have moar upvotes!

I’m core clique? Awesome. I mean, I’ve only had contact with one of those people off this board (or its predecessor), but still, good to know I’m in the Illuminati that controls the fates of all wrongfully accused ~~men~~ MU*ers.

I find it interesting that I was labeled a ‘clique ally’. Mostly because I don’t really communicate with anyone on this forum, or even MSB before that went outside of the forum itself and my level of interaction was contained to just that, nor did I ever think of myself as included. I can’t say I’ve agreed with everything those on the list have said, but that by no means should suggest that I HATE THEM AND THEY ARE TERRIBLE PEOPLE. More often than not, I simply don’t voice my disagreement as usually voicing disagreement isn’t all that productive and more likely is just going to devolve into something that isn’t worth it in the long run. And as disgruntled I may usually be, I am not out to make enemies.

There may of been a time where I was that petty and bitter. I guess I just woke the hell up and just got past it.

That’s the joke, man. I don’t engage with the bulk of the people on that list outside of here, either. Most of us don’t. I am part of what could be considered a clique, absolutely, but most of them don’t do the forum thing.

The ‘both sides’ that goes on that totally ignores power dynamics and actions is utterly bizzare and infuriating.

The idea that both sides don’t recognise the split is harmful? Of /course it is/. Only one side sought to exclude the other (and did so) from a position of power. It isn’t like BMD was set up by people on a jolly jape, it was made because people otherwise couldn’t engage with most of the active people in the discussion board part of the hobby.

See, I’m not sure it is ultimately.

The reasons behind the split, and the metaphorical violence behind the split? Absolutely harmful and I’m not going to deny it.

The split itself? We don’t know the full outcome of that, yet, but we’ve had exactly one problem poster here and plenty decent of discussion happening. I’d honestly call that a win.

We’re free of the parts of MSB with which we refused to put up, and they’re free of people they clearly didn’t appreciate having in their community. We both win out of this.
