I am mildly curious to what Meg said to cause them to decide she was just going to make trouble. Then, I realized that is the go-to response they have for any of the ‘bad actors’ that are part of BMD. So, anything most anyone here says on MSB is out to cause trouble over, you know, trying to genuinely make peace or understand.

Belittling rape, misogyny etc., doesn’t make you look like less of a misogynist, Devrex. If it hurts you that people would say this about you, then stop fucking doing it.
I called Cullen a rapist because he is a rapist. Like, I would love to share his criminal record with you, I have it right here, but it’s against the rules.
And I feel compelled to drive this point not to be hyperbolic, but because that fact has been questioned incessantly, here:
And because the undertones of MSB’s discussion, prior to me posting there to make that point explicit, very much were of the fear-mongering suspicion that Hog Pit threads might contain false accusations, and that receipts are necessary, and oh no, what if all these poor innocent souls have been damned because you all didn’t do your due diligence. These points were made in particular by Ghost, and upvoted by you, and Derp, and the rest of your sealioning fanclub.
Which by the way, I think is despicable, and dangerous. And not despicable in the sense of, ‘Oh I don’t quite like the theme of this game, perhaps I should play on a different game instead; each to their own.’ But in the sense that makes me feel compelled to say something about it because people could get hurt, have been hurt, and are hurt, by the delegitimisation of their trauma and the benefit of the doubt you wish to confer to predators with multiple accusers. Such as Rysen too, for example, which is why I assume people other than me felt the need to rebutt the comments about him, too. These are not assumptions; this has been made explicit.
By the way, Ghost, still paying attention? This is why I do not accept your apology, why I doubt your intentions, and why I bring up the fact that you’ve always done this, dating back years ago and are still doing it right now.
So don’t act like you’ve always been an ally or that it’s disingenuous of me to bring him up.
My sincere apologies to simplications for getting them mixed up in the crossfire; on the other hand, Cullen is a crypto-fascist, as is ppurg, the other dude I’ve been known to harp on in the general MU* community about being a fascist, and your mockery of my willingness to call people out on that certainly makes you look like someone who’s either in their camp or tolerant of it. Which is further backed by this thread of yours from three years ago, which was directed at me. And it’s relevant to bring that history up because you’re still doing it. The only “apology” for it you’ve offered was coupled by an untrue accusation, simply another of your classic attempts at DARVO. The aim of that was not to apologise, but to justify.
P.S.: Thanks for successfully getting the person who posted the exact account you referenced in your reddit comment, the one about him threatening to send nudes to her boss and stalking her on social media, to delete her testimony. Your actions have material consequences, and it is not hyperbolic to say so, nor to react to them.

THIS JUST IN:
Grown adults living through traumatic time period resort to sarcastic humor to tackle difficult situations.
-
Trauma doesn’t have a catchall response. Also, one person can have different responses depending on the trauma.
-
@RightMeow and, speaking to the audience because i know you probably know this, RM, but-- gasp you can have different responses to the same trauma. depending on the day and how you are feeling.
i alternately make jokes/sarcasm about my abuse and sometimes get really fucking withdrawn about it, etc. i can make jokes about the MSB shit and be sad about it at different times, too.

I’m getting more and more of a vibe that anyone who posts here must be horrible and terrible.
So I’m just going to go embrace it. Not go and post, because whatever, but like a the terrible Mexican telenovela I watched 3 seasons of (subtitled, because I don’t speak Spanish) in College - I can’t look away. I’m too invested now.
I liked some of the people there. Honestly, even when Derp was put on staff I didn’t have an opinion. I thought there was some validity in the idea (which was never expressed, this is 100% my own view) “This person just served the community by helping us move servers, and so now they’re going to get a say in what happens with their hard work.” I think I even PMed Derp with something like that?
But then all my friends got banned. Am I a bad person because people like @tsar, @Snackness and such are people that I like a lot? I stayed because I didn’t ~know~ there was another option. The second did I came scurrying over because my friends were here. I like my friends.
Y’all might be shitty sarcastic assholes sometimes, but I also know that you’re an amazing set of people. @Herja asked for help and within 24 hours had everything she needed. I know I can post a struggle and will have support instantly. When I fuck up I also know I’ll get my shit called out because that is what good people do. It is going to be 100% polite “hey I don’t like what you did?” nah. People have triggers and they’re allowed to react according to their trauma. The point is that we need room after to clear the air and bring things back to an even keel.
-
I’ve never been called horrible and terrible. I’ve also never been accused of being part of a clique. I need to try harder.
-
i feel like trying to language police a hobby full of erotic writers and social outcasts is, uh, a choice.
I’m genuinely baffled that sarcasm keeps getting tossed into those lists, but to each their own.
(I am definitely worth being culled from the community on that metric though, my blood sarcasm level is at least 0.23 percent, I’m dying of sarcasm poisoning, it’s very sad)
There’s a reminder here that a lot of people have thinner skin than I do. It’s definitely a good thing to be reminded of, right? It doesn’t make them a terrible person or anything – my own mother can’t really handle foul language because it triggers a trauma response from experiences with my father, I get that.
Still, I’m not sure trying to force that change on a whole community of the sorts of people who gladly flaunt social norms is the right play.
I do my best not to swear in front of my mother, and if I did log back into MSB, I would follow their rules regardless of how I feel about them (frankly, I don’t feel much either way about them, they’re fine, they’re just not being enforced evenly or well). One of the reasons I won’t log back into MSB is because I know whether or not I follow the rules is not the prime factor in how people respond over there. I watched MSB absolutely shit all over you , @Solstice , @Meg , etc, who were all following the rules, from the moment you started posting. Instant hostility to any pushback (or, for that matter, confusion). They are not following their own rules. If my mom started swearing like a sailor, I’d probably take it as granted that she’s not as upset about cussing as she says she is.

I definitely respond to bad things with sarcastic humor, it’s armor. If I can find some sort of way to laugh at something, then maybe it isn’t that bad or scary or shitty. I think that’s fairly true for a number of people. So I’m a little baffled that one of the complaints is about anyone being sarcastic. Yeah, some of that’s going to happen.
What I like about this board is I don’t feel like I’m in a pool of same-same people. There was a nice back and forth in the peeve thread about the nature of apologies. And in that, I learned I was doing something that was apparently off-putting behavior in my day-to-day life. Not horrible, just socially awkward and uncomfortable for other people.
And I took steps IRL to not do that anymore. So I think there’s a lot of value to people disagreeing and pulling arguments apart and seeing what they’re made up of. I haven’t found any of the conversations here with the members to be particularly vitriolic.
-
I should be fair and said that I have absolutely been mean, and said mean things, about the people over there who are saying things just profoundly not true about people I like over here when those people can’t defend themselves.
-
So since this is the second time in extremely recent MSB history that I’ve been either @tted at (despite being banned) or had my quote from here used as an example for how awful BMD is, I’d like to ask:
Derp, how did I hurt you? Is it because I am a woman with opinions, or is it because I called you a misogynist, or is it because of something else? I’d love to know! Pls respond on MSB, xoxoxoxo love me
-
@bear_necessities yours wasn’t even the worst he could have used. yours was mild. it was barely even an attack, never mind a personal attack. it was a light tease.
-
@Meg It’s clearly something personal at this point. Even though personal attacks aren’t allowed on the nice MSB anymore.

As my amigo @Third-Eye likes to say
-
But //you// aren’t a person any more. You’re a dirty banned BMD internet troll who just wants MSB to burn. You’re just a rule breaking jerkface mean pants.
So personal attacks are okay! As long as you are characterized as ‘other’ then it’s all good in the neighborhood.
(This is sarcasm okay.)
-
Also kind of fucked up to deny some people the use of their love language. Like.
Pretty rude for anyone to say all things that have mean words in them are malicious.
-
When people can’t refute your argument, they bitch about the cussing. Just a sign that they have no good defense.
-
@tsar
It would be hilarious if MSB installed some sort of mod to turn profanity into ‘fork’ and such but this is maybe too self-aware. -
