Yeah I always figured it’d be something like that. People get used to what they get used to!
-
@Livia I’ll just start posing first person at you, then.
-
@Pavel Or second person. In public. Without having any kind of storytelling permissions. Narrate the world on their behalf.
-
@Solstice I would agree with this. When it comes to one on one scenes, I think there’s a lot more flexibility to what people are comfortable with, especially if the people in question have a history of RP between them. They are aware of the other’s beats and preferences.
Thought-posing and the like in larger scenes still get me side-eye it a bit. But most recent examples of this that I’ve noticed tend to give narrative context rather than, ‘oh ho I’m gonna drag your ass in snark but you can’t do shit about it’. I actually haven’t seen that be done in a long time.

Man, The Network was such a neat concept. Now from what I’m hearing from friends who have left, it’s just toxic staffers spinning themselves up into a tizzy about players who aren’t letting staffbits have all the spotlight and control every player’s narrative. I know I’ve complained about this sort of shit before here, but I just can’t believe I’m seeing it again and again and again. If you just want to tell stories with your friends, run a private game.
This is super interesting.
Who, incidentally, has told you this? Because the source of this rumor might just shine additional light to its purpose.
I mean, I’m sure your friends are one hundred percent trustworthy and would never misrepresent something to make themselves look like victims or good people who’ve been slighted, or to make someone they feel slighted by out to look like spotlight hogging problem staffers.
But you know.
Just in case.

@Coin When it’s something I hear from separate individuals who aren’t friends and don’t play together, it gives the stories more credence. I’m not going to drag individuals into this conversation without their permission. If they want to tell the specifics of their stories, they can.
I welcome these stories.
Let these people come and give their firsthand accounts of the toxic environment on The Network, a game run by literally one of the chillest, most understanding, and inclusive people I know.
I want to hear about this toxicity, because if they really are toxic behind the scenes, these are my friends we’re talking about. So I should be warned.
Lemme know when these stories are forthcoming.

@Coin sounds like you’re one of these staff pets tbh
I haven’t even been playing on The Network this past season at all. In fact, my character is Wiley, you can go look at all the “important, spotlight scenes” I’ve had.
It’s all right there for you to see.
Though from other posts, you seem to think you know me, so maybe all this prevaricating “sounds like” bullshit is just a smokescreen.

@foksthery You know how this sounds, right?
“I’ve heard from multiple people about stories how this place sucks.”
“Okay, what happened, what stories.”
“lololol you must be a staff favorite”
You sure there are actually people who have problems with the game, or you just salty for whatever reason? I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here and for all I know, something is going down(I wouldn’t know, I don’t play there).
But c’mon, plenty of us have heard this exact same accusation slung around regarding so many games from the past. Bring up actual situations and/or receipts.

@Coin don’t know you that well, and I’m really glad I don’t. But I’ve seen the way you post and heard stories.
Oh, no. You’ve seen the way I post. That must mean I’m a horrible person to everyone in every situation.
And you’ve heard stories. Wonderful.
Who did I hurt? How did I hurt them? This is super neat, yo. Let’s go down this rabbit hole.

@Coin lol

Kay. When you’ve got something to say, speak up so the whole class can hear you. Because this waving vague fucking commentary about games and people because you’ve heard things is the kind of behavior that hurts this hobby the most.
-
@Testament We heard these exact same accusations slung around on MSB for a million years too.
‘Multiple people tell stories about how all of this ONE GROUP sucks, no I won’t even name who is in the group or what the stories are, but they are all talking about it so therefore I mean, it must be true’.
You can’t blame people for getting defensive based on that. Either give people constructive concrete issues or-- idk, man. this is a wendy’s.
-
I wandered off the Network even though I loved my character and the concept and the stories. No staff toxicity that I can recall. There were some other players I didn’t really want to deal with who were super active and they felt ubiquitous whether or not they actually were and my energy levels were super low so it was way easier to just drift away than trying to do things.
This is some serious Coin beef you’re showing and I’m super curious.

but DON’T TELL ANYONE or you will be read to filth regardless.
-
@hellfrog this is why just promising you’re going to create a game and never doing it is the best strategy. top notch.
-
@foksthery
Seriously wtf is your deal?
