for @Babs because I am always and actively procrastinating on my librarian –
I have started playing Syberia.
-
@GF I think it is great, actually. Really only have 2 complaints: a couple of locations had about 1 too many explorable areas/wings to complete puzzles. Just a BIT too long. The other is that getting the icon to actually grab the interactables is finicky as fuck, and it can be real annoying.
I might have preferred the way some things were performed in the original - but only a couple. I got to see someone unfamiliar with the original play this for the first time, and everything landed. All in all, a really pleasant surprise.
-
@hellfrog To each her own!
-
Marvel Rivals is pretty dang fun.
-
@Sammich I wish I could get more teams in Rivals that would actually push the objective. It’s really sad to see a Hulk or Wolverine standing off the objective, punching the air, then after the match, they’ve got 0 time on objective and complain that the rest of the team sucked.
-
Mouthwashing…just wow. PLAY IT. Best horror game in a long time, depressing heavy, dark. Just…fuck.
-
There are weird space alien flower bug things in my Space Trucker simulator, and I’m a little annoyed that space legs were so bad when they first dropped that I quit space trucking for a while. Tangentially related, the space alien flower bug things aren’t cute enough for me to try to join
never mind the game devs won’t let people join them.Anyway, Sol and/or Earth about to get wrecked, time to speed run building that 1:1 scale Space Trucker MU or something.
-
@BloodAngel Seconded. Really also anything published by Critical Reflex. Mouthwashing, Lunacid, Arctic Eggs…
They have a lot of awesome stuff.
-
@MisterBoring Artic eggs was so good!

Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 Release Date Trailer
Well, I know what I’ll be doing on April 24th.
-
@dvoraen It’s been quite some time since I saw a trailer, raised a brow, and immediately set a reminder for the launch date on my phone. That looks like it could be pretty damn rad.

Go back to my first post (in this thread) on the subject. This is how I feel about the score:
-
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a fantastic musou game that sits down and really works on the Dynasty Warriors formula and I recommend it to anyone who played prior games, even if they were burned by DW9.
The story gets a proper dedicated focus instead of being relegated to mission and character cut-scenes, and works hard to tell the saga of the Downfall of the Han with a combination of historical accuracy, Romance of the Three Kingdoms embellishments, and Dynasty Warriors flair. Respect is shown to what were formally comic relief characters such as the tragedy of Zhang Jiao and the morph of Dong Zhuo into a truly menacing manipulator.
Gameplay is harder and no longer winnable by mashing X/Square. You need to combine light and heavy attacks, Battle Arts, blocking, dodging, and your Musou attacks (which now come close to being full screen wipes) in a far more skill-oriented system. There are less than ten weapons this time around, but each one has a massive moveset and all are completely differentiated from each other in style and gameplay.
Some things did miss the cut, like playing as historical characters instead of the new protag John Musou (who himself is probably the weakest part of the game), but the work done on the gameplay and story more than makes up for it.
-
@Hobbie Big fan of the series over the years. Love this entry.
It’s missing a few things for me (like playing through each of the 3 kingdoms separately), and I don’t really like the “inventory” system or the thing with the Pantene rocks, but the good far outweighs the bad.
I’ve been entertained.

I don’t normally endorse these kinds of videos, but…
XBox Deep Dive into Expedition 33
(ETA)“This team gets it.” is basically where I’m at. I mean, even just talking about why there’s a world map I was like: snap point(/ETA)
Also, I would go gay for the Creative Director because of his accent.
