Changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling changeling
I could scream with glee
-
highkey wanna play here but it seems like I have to be familiar with the books to know what I’m doing
-
@Artemis You need to have access to the books to look up stuff, but you do not have to be long familiar with them. MANY people here are not long term CoD players. I have to look up stuff alllllllllll the time.
-
Not at all. The wikis are useful for lore, as is Codex of Darkness. And you can always ask! I know a decent chunk of information about Changeling and very little about the rest.
-
@Artemis you definitely don’t have to know them, I had never personally cracked a WoD book before cg and I got through it. the documentation is good and staff and people are very helpful, so long as you’ve got the source pdfs.
not to say i didn’t scream internally and externally when trying to actually USE my sheet.
-
@Artemis I’m not going to say you don’t need the books, but you can definitely get pretty far without them. If you’re just going to be there for RP and Vibes, learning as you go is valid, and there are some merits that are self explanatory enough you can probably get by with what little is on the Codex that Rinel mentioned.
But the pdfs do offer a lot of clarification that people will point you at if you’re having trouble finding it (which is reasonable, the formatting of those books is a nightmare).
Edit to add - and if you’re unfamiliar with 1e nWoD, bonus points, you don’t have to unlearn years of precident that no longer applies.

There is only one eternal, unchanging precident: there will never be a game with Mummy, because everybody hates me specifically.

thiiiis. I love Mage’s setting and themes to death and have been reeeaaally tempted, even started making a bit, but every time I look at the improvised spell chart in the books I want to start hooting and screeching like a baboon
-
@Wizz The trick is to play a BabyMage and ICly find a mentor who already knows this shit to teach it to you.
-
thank you for replies here! I understand better now

What I do is to write out my most commonly used spells beforehand and work everything out while I have free time. Then I can copy and paste when needed and modify as necessary. It really helps to learn it.

I’m one of those damaged souls that played so much OWoD Mage that I’ve historically approached NWoD Mage with absolute bafflement. It’s supposed to be more streamlined (and I’ll admit, it seems so), but I never got the feel for it.

I think it’s just that most game runners have Mummy issues.
-
Omg there’s been a ban already.
-
@Pavel They wasted the opportunity to make a living meme of a character based on Jill. Now we’ll never know!
-
-
head on desk Someone write my character for me.
-
@Pavel I was like “oh I wonder what happened” and then saw him lash out on the chat backlog and was like “oh he’s one of those”.
