@Selira Yeah!
And I admit a bit of snobbery in me that makes me look askance at those I think are minmaxing rp characters.
Take something that doesn’t synergize, because it makes sense IC. This is how you get FROG RESPECT.
-
@hellfrog I freely admit to a bit self-insertion during the times where I felt very much the same. And outright stubbornness because I didn’t believe I was the one who was wrong. Which I partially chalk up to ego.
Truth is, it’s more nuanced than that. Far more.
-
How many XP do I need to spend to up my frog respect and what dice rolls can I add it to?
Just curious.

someone talking about whether or not Vegeta would win a fight against Alf.I thought that shit was just contained to, like, every Quora post ever.

We’re talking about Alf Stewart, right?
“Stone the flamin’ crows!”
That Alf?
-
@Sammich I hope I am not the only one picturing the friendly cat-eating alien of my youth.

This is the same feeling as hearing an Australian accent in a foreign place. This does not belong.

I had the kiwi version of that feeling every time Korg spoke in Thor: Ragnarok so I now understand just how badly I have wronged you.

My thing about OOC Rooms is how weird some people act in them. I’m not going to list them because with all the fights we’ve been having on this board lately, I don’t want anyone to feel called out, but I don’t mind vaguebooking about some minor annoyances from days past.

OOC rooms can be weird and toxic in a way that public channels often aren’t. (Sometimes channels can be Just As Bad, but I see it happen more often in OOC rooms.)
-
I hang out in OOC rooms a lot because I just like chatting to people. It helps me feel some sense of community on the game, and I enjoy that? But yeah, sometimes they get weird.

I enjoy the community too, and they CAN be good things. I actually really liked the way Ares will echo the OOC room chatter to a public channel. It seems to help with some of the toxicity potential (some!) and also lets me participate in chatter even when I’m in a scene.

This, right here. THAT BIT. That is basically everything that drives me nuts about OOC rooms. Why would you ever make people choose between engaging in the community and RPing?!
-
@Selira A whole lot of us put our top points into intelligence and perception. We are all very intelligent and perceptive! The lot of us!
That’s why trying to hide who you are and change handles is us-- you know, it doesn’t actually usually work out. People know.
-
I don’t usually use OOC Rooms (I prefer to idle in quiet rooms, if I bother staying connected at all), but it would feel odd if there weren’t one there. I dunno if that’s sufficient reason to want them kept, though.

It’s just like people getting back together after a breakup. If something significant hasn’t changed, the same problems are still there.
You CAN change handles and get a fresh start. But you have to actually be, you know, not behaving in whatever patterns people started to associate with that handle you’re escaping. That takes some serious self-reflection at the least.
