Honestly, my biggest peeve is people who make decisions that get their characters in danger and rather than go along with it, they sort of like get frustrated at the consequences they get because “what else was my character going to do? Of course they were going to rage at the super evil and powerful mage! They are a rebel!”
Like the character isn’t real. You make the decisions. Own it.
A huge thank you to the GMs who helped me with today’s event as well as all the player’s that had taken part.
Especially one who had lost their character. You accepted the result with a lot of grace and I am really happy that you were satisfied (I think) with the way it was handled. Your character is a total badass.
Side note: I think I just made my NPC a hate sink rofl.
Joining a new game and battling the social anxiety of having a scene with people I’m not familiar with. And it all going well!
I’m one of those people who is constantly frightened of venturing into unknown territory. I do it! But it’s scary af so it’s nice when it pays off.
I explicitly told this “new” player when they asked me about the damn shared tattoo our characters had that I would prefer to not roleplay that due to my issues with the previous player. So they KNEW how I felt about them and pretended to be oh so sympathetic to my problems. You know what, whatever. But the fact that in a private scene, they ASKED my NPC questions about an Apos-NPC unprompted - lore questions about him, how my char felt about him, etc - unprompted and is now lying about trying to “keep her distance” from him is galling. Worse than that are the people who believe this bullshit. Ugh. I hope to never encounter her again but given how insidious she is, that’s a fool’s hope.
ETA: And they framed it as “X told me about this tattoo our chars have, can you tell me about that.” But that could have been bunk too since they were the same fkin player.
Is it weird that sometimes it’s easier to play my NPCs than my PCs? Helping seed metaplot info or other character info is easier than actively forming character interactions.
ETA: Probably as RL has gotten insanely hectic. It’s not that I hate interpersonal interactions but yeah.
My god what I’d give to never read about VK ever again. I was friends with her once and wish I never met her. There.
It’s very easy to believe her when the tinted glasses are on. She seems lovely at first and then you -see- her pulling some bullshit and you’re like “well shit”. I kind of hope hobos snaps out of it soon but if he doesn’t, his problem.
I’m on the brink of a big move and I just finished training at my new job and I’m going to miss the people I trained with because we’re in different branches. And I just feel unstable with so many upcoming changes and don’t know how I’m going to cope. I know change is inevitable but it’s hard.
I genuinely appreciate staff being really understanding with personal fumbles and clarifying things in posts. There are moments I feel guilty and worry I’m wasting people’s time, so it really does put me at ease!
@Rinel This isn’t advice about what to do. But to be honest, someone /can/ be a part of a minority group and still play a PC from that group offensively.
I have many issues with that post. One of which being that my NPC was named (in the original rant) as no longer caring about the PCs and not protecting them from consequences when I’ve basically been going out of my way to make a fully dangerous NPC easy to engage with. And to have that reaction when that NPC didn’t defend them from consequences was just draining.
But the other thing is that it very much was an attempt to avoid PKing a character. So it’s super unfair on the other NPC who was trying to keep the char’s story going by only applying a temporary maiming. (Yes they were told they could get the voice back).
@mietze Mood. Playing a character with high perception and missing some very basic things makes me feel such shame.

On the one (bigger) hand, I am glad I finally have a steady job. On the other, I miss having more free time!
@Meg I feel this way about toys I never play with. I hate throwing them away even though it’s been like two decades lol.
@IoleRae For what it’s worth Sunny, I think I had enough of a balance in the people I spoke to that I didn’t just take what one person said to me and run with it. I think a lot of people have more than one MU group (regardless of the clique suggestions), so we hear different things from different people and draw our own conclusions. It doesn’t mean our conclusions are right but it does stop us thinking of people as ‘bad’ or ‘good’ until we see evidence of the behavior.
