Children NPCs, yay or nay?

I believe the overall agreement is no minor PCs in games.
But what about children NPCs? Either your character’s own kids, creepy Shining kids villains, or whatever.
Do you think they should be in games? Or all children should be only mentioned at most and kept off screen?
ETA this is not for your kids on bikes game with your friends at your weekly IRL game, online games only.

@catzilla If staff can puppet the NPC kid and their activities are transparent to other staff including pages and room activity, even makeshift rooms, sure. Games being kidless always weakens the immersion but people get up to some dumb stuff (using them as shields against plot and consequences comes to mind as readily as ickier things).
If someone is gonna make the room for kid NPCs I’d hope they’d make the room for the proper measures to keep it from encouraging stupid or inappropriate behavior. If done right I think it could certainly help a game feel more vibrant and emotionally real!

I have often used children NPCs, same as any other kind of NPCs. A world full of stories where children don’t exist would be kind of weird. Of course you probably want to have some policies about how they may appear. This would depend on the game and its tone/rating, but perhaps something like “no child vampires” to “I don’t care if it’s the apocalypse, don’t harm children on-camera on my game”.
