YES. This. So hard this.
I’ve had people jokingly (?) refer to some of my interactions OOCly, and it’s made me feel embarrassed and ashamed.
People, I don’t have to tell you my character is as Bi as I am, and if the gender of whom she engaged in pretendy times with is objectionable, or the frequency with which those times are assumed to have occurred (never as often as people assume), kindly keep that shit to yourself.
Given my character is actually pretty tame in her romantic endeavors, I can only imagine the shamey opinions that go out for people who present more sensually.

A real uncomfortable moment for me was when someone said in OOC something to the effect of raise your hand if you haven’t hooked up with X.
In a very public event, not an event that was just some close friends/RP partners. I was like OOF.

@Roz I absolutely understand that point and have been in that situation in the past. There is no blame on the person for whose personal reasons are to roster. My comment was directed more to situations I was privy to as a friend, where my advice was to address this to staff because it could potentially be problematic if there is a player covertly running people off a character. Whether or not that would have resulted in the same action to roster the character, at the very least it is documented by staff on game.
The same would go for anyone who feels it is in their right to harass another player over an IC relationship. That behavior is unacceptable. @Herja absolutely all of this.

There was a dude who commented on public channels whenever he discovered my character was in a relationship with someone who wasn’t him.
At least he’s been banned repeatedly. And it’s a fun easy way to spot him when he does re-emerge from his slime pit.

I feel like this is a line that people are just bad at. Sex isn’t shameful on Arx, but also like, it’s weird if people talk about it in public situations.
I finally had to ask people to just chill out with the sex jokes around Norwood because YES, it is fun how he reacts but like, it’s not because he’s against the sex, it’s because he thinks it’s no one else’s god damn business - especially his. HE DOES NOT WANT TO KNOW YOUR PRIVATE BUSINESS AND YOU DON’T GET TO KNOW HIS.
I actually don’t know if this is actually constructive or more of a peeve.
(Upside, the people I asked to chill were really wonderful and immediately did without a hit to our relationships.)

Squee, it’s fixed, it’s working, I figured it out, or… something.
I closed the ticket I opened, and think it likely resolved with a reboot, but at any rate I’ve managed to sort EVERYTHING out just as I like it so thank you to everybody who answered even if I’m not entirely sure what fixed it!

Thanks to a bunch of hard work on Apostate’s part, he has made code fixes so that cg is actually working again! Yay! What this means is that we are going to be able to open the game to OCs again!But, going forward and in order to have the time and space to make OCs fit well within the game’s story, we aren’t leaving OC creation on indefinitely. The idea is to open up a short window where we will accept OC applications for a two week time period. After that time period passes, OCs will be restricted again and staff will take the time to go through applications to ensure thematic adherence as well as solid story integration.
Given how much attention we intend to pay to OC applications, these will take longer to process than roster applications but we think the end result will be worth the effort and ask for your patience. Expect up to a month turn around on OC applications depending on how many we receive. In the future, we intend to announce a window to submit rosters if you are an org leader but for this round, we are only looking at OCs.
The next OC creation window will open on August 1st and close on August 15th.

I loved my run on Arx.
Good players, good GMs. Good experience.
When Ari died, it was exciting. And well, I basically could not find another character that could top that. So I drifted off.
I tried. I tried to find a character. I tried to settle back in. But I just could not find a good fit.
Ari was lighting in a bottle for me and I will always think fondly of that three year stretch on Arx.

I’m admittedly not as active on my character there as I could be so take this as you will, but I couldn’t recommend Redreef more for anybody shopping around for somewhere to plant an OC. Ember is a lovely org leader and ST, even during downtime.

Gonna float this weird and possibly not good idea I have…I’d like another Arx character but I don’t want to spin up an OC and fall off because I can’t get my claws in. Does anyone have a ‘would like to have’ character on a list for their House or org or whatever? I don’t think I need an unreasonable amount of hand-holding but if I can’t get meaningful RP every week or so I go into the ‘why am I here if no one loves me’ death spiral.
The only thing I’m not at all open to playing is a male character because I just suck at playing male characters.

@Snackness Not an OC but just floating that I think you’d play a real good Briseis. I guess she’s not technically on the roster right now but the last player hasn’t connected since March so I’m sure staff would put her back up. JUST SAYING.
