But it’s not Ghost, remember?! The account has been handed back and forth and around at least 20 times now! Ghost was an amazing person who left MUing 30 years ago and needs to remind us at least monthly of his permanent departure.

It really feels like Ganymede has just decided to let Derp drive it into the ground out of some need to avoid losing face from reversing a decision.
Yep.

-
It’s also very damning that basically all of the admin posts are being made by Derp now.
-
that makes me so sad.

And if anything else, he still has reddit to fall back on. Because there’s a particular thread on /muds that was a thing for a bit. And well, it’s reddit.
Lol, shit, I lurk on r/mud and I’ve both felt a little bad for and kinda admired the response of the regulars there, whose first instinct to that thread was largely ‘OH GOD NOT THESE PEOPLE’ and to promptly start making a bunch of other threads about MUDs. It’s almost made me wish I could wrap my brain around playing MUDs again.

It’s kinda ironic to think that there were a lot of accusations thrown around of cliqueish behavior when so few of those bans were actually overturned. Especially the more egregious ones – you would expect there to at least be an explanation as to why people are staying banned if they wanna go with more transparency.
But the ‘internal review’ was also done by two people who went open season on people protesting as is, so I mean, I don’t know what I expected.

‘So many people messaged me in support and will remain anonymous as they continue to fear for their saftey!’ is… an argument, I guess. Weird how it keeps getting made inconsistently.

We have investigated our decisions and found that we were right. We have also investigated ourselves for bad behaviour and found that we were good.
Funny how that works.

that makes me so sad.
The whole thing makes me sad, too. I 100% get it. And I was only really involved from the outside, as observer and lurker. I understand why it would LEGIT be hard for people who were more a part of the community. I’m sorry.
It is sad. Because it didn’t have to be this way. Conversations could’ve been had. Conversations in good faith. And I believe they weren’t simply because or pride and/or ego. And that’s my belief, that people, even when having conflicting views, don’t want to try and figure out. How to resolve it. It’s just “here’s my space, there’s your space”. To me, it smacks of tribalism. But that’s human behavior, moving along in groups where you agree and are like-minded.
The instigation of so many rules isn’t going to make a place ‘safer’. Give the illusion of safety perhaps. But it’s safety that’s crafted out of fear. Because now the precedent has been set and people will be far more trepidatious to speaking out simply because it sounds like an opposing viewpoint isn’t welcome or observed. If you want to make a place feel safer and welcoming, there has to be a certain level of buy-in. And if there isn’t, you’re going to continually have situations like we’ve all just witnessed.
But again, I think it comes down to pride or ego, or both. And the unwillingness to try and resolve conflicts.

It’s ludicrous and my inability to keep my mouth shut gave that shitstain of a human Macha more platform to lie about Farfalla and I feel really bad about that.
I’m sorry.

They were had. And we were each, individually, lied to. At least I certainly was.
-
@Pavel I’m sure there was. It wasn’t something I had, but I also didn’t try, as I have enough mental and emotional bullshit to deal with. But that’s also why I said conversations in good faith.
Which clearly, there was not.

Listen. They built themselves a community there that really fits the level of self-awareness and spite this whole thing demonstrated.
I, for one, wish them all the best building a more positive and constructive community with the likes of vulgarkitten, ghost, derp and macha.
Bless that mess.
