@Gashlycrumb Take your expenditure for parts, props, and other sundries, jack up the price by 60% for labour costs, and that’s your daily.

If we’re going by daily, don’t forget the retainer.

@Rowan said in Celebrities We Lost 2023:

The Pogues lead singer, Shane MacGowan. Christmas was never complete without hearing their Fairytale of New York. Best xmas song ever! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67546785

          This one is… sigh. Cry.

Back in March of 2008, right before St. Patrick’s Day, the Pogues were supposed to play a relatively small venue here in Philadelphia. Like, holds about 2000 people small. I had tickets to see them, but at the time I lived over an hour outside the city and this terrible winter storm blew in. We usually don’t get snow that late, but it was piling high, the roads were wet from the day before, and everything started to freeze over. Even the trains into the city had warnings about delays and cancellations and I was afraid that if I tried going to the show I’d either get in an accident or get stuck there with nowhere to sleep. Besides, I was convinced – convinced! – that with such miserable conditions, they were going to reschedule.

They didn’t. The band played on anyway, to a tiny audience of about 300-400 people, and I missed it. I didn’t know it at the time, but I would never have another chance to see the Pogues. They played New York and Baltimore and DC, but they never came to Philly again. That was my one and only chance and I decided not to go.

Buy the tickets, folks. Go to the show. Do the thing. Don’t miss out.

So I finally got to see The Pogues.

There’s only three of them left. And it took five different singers to cover for Shane McGowan. But I got to see them, and it was lovely, and I’m happy.

Buy the tickets, folks. Go to the show. Do the thing. Don’t miss out.

Since March I have been working on building a High Elf army for Warhammer the Old World and I bought a kit of Battle Sisters for 40k. It’s been a nice and relaxing way of disengaging with the horrors of the outside world. It sparks joy.

@Rucket I’m sorry, but a real Astartes is not a shut-in, and engages with the God Emperor’s Creation.

I know this isn’t what you meant but it’s kind of hilarious that the horrors of WH40K are lesser than the horrors of real life. Daemons trying to eat your face off are nothing in the face of this ever-worsening cost of living crisis!

So yeah, sure, I did get an email late Sunday night from my boss’s boss’s boss’s boss that I had to jump on as soon as I saw it at 7AM today…

But he called my writing for him strong and clear. Verbatim quote.

Just gonna stick that right in my annual review that’s due on Friday.

@Rucket Those guys looked great! I’m really glad they included chaos dwarfs finally, though I’m pretty squarely over in the Slaves to Darkness camp myself.

I landed a dream job with excellent low cost bennies (yay state employment) and I’m still having fun and no stress! It was a hard decision to leave my old job as I loved the community there but it was getting too hard for me physically. But now even the worst day is less painful than the best day at my old job, and the worst day is pretty mellow. For now, it’s so nice to be able to breathe again, and have a normal level of stress. I also get to interact every day with 6 months old through seniors in high school, and seeing how much the big kids enjoy learning how to care for the littles is doing my heart a lot of good.

I am so hyped that Chorfs are getting a right and proper release and look forward to seeing what else they get in the coming years. That said at least we can be Comrades in Chaos 😄

(I also need to see what Regiments of Renown they let us have as I would buy Skarbrand if I can chuck him into a list LOL)

They updated the Regiments of Renown document the same day the army box came out and the answer to that is sadly zero.

The army isn’t officially released yet, not until you can buy the battletome individually so I suspect they will update that document again in a month or so.
