Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo

Oh, it’s because they stand to benefit from the friendship of a person they’re never likely to meet.
Ok, I get what you’re trying to say, but definitely when you take into consideration someone’s ‘testimony’, you are going to factor what they stand to gain out of it.
But this is just such a bizarre statement? In all of this? Like, throwing in ‘they’re never likely to meet’ as part of a reason someone wouldn’t want to keep a friendship or care about a friendship is-- a weird claim for an internet forum based on a collective internet hobby where many of us have made friends.

I appreciate the candid responses, and the opportunity to provide a puzzle for the would-be predators to identify who I might or might not be.
Such tragic irony. Truly, we have forgotten the wisdom of great philosopher Freddy Nickleback, who warned us, “Battle not with sex predators, lest a predator ye become or at least be disingenuously called by someone who refuses to acknowledge that their own behavior has raised every imaginable red flag.”

I came into the conversation here because no one spoke about what was good about AoA, as it all seemed oriented toward the bad.
… so first off, this is the ‘here are the problems with this game’ board, we have a whole other section for ‘here are good things I like about it, please join us!’
… but also fuck it, I’LL BITE.
AoA has a lot going for it. It has that 1:1 chargen/on-grid XP thing I am obsessed with and demand every game I play on adopt a version of. It has pretty detailed equipment rules, and the back-end with +attack code helps make plots easy enough. Bonus points in that it was the first mush I ever was remotely active and engaged on when I was a baby-musher in the mid 00s. So I do have NOSTALGIA working for me. And the best part, they have my obsession,
MUMMIEScoded space flight/trading lulz.Actually, scratch that, SpaceMummies also exist in Star Wars.
So it seems weird that I’m not playing in it actively, when at a glance, it looks like it is 120% MY JAM.
The 1:1 chargen/on-grid code is also what they used on SerenityMU. But instead of capping out at 40, it goes to 125. Re: SerenityMU: the RNG is also weird when you dig into it, so running plots is actually a lot more complicated than you thought. Especially if you want to do something outside of what is coded. And good luck getting something added to the code.
Nostalgia is cool, but good memories also mean bad memories, like instead of addressing one problem player, they created THE HATCHBACK, which was a cursed spaceship that would deal damage to the person flying it, and if you used the wrong exit, would RANDOMLY (not always) drop you out the airlock onto the landing pad of wherever the ship was located. Or, if not landed, into SPACE.
So instead of telling a problem player to cut the shit, they bullied him to try and get him to leave. This not only did not drive the problem player off, but dude doubled down on everyone else.
See also: EARN YOUR FORCE USER, PROVE YOU ARE WORTHY! We have that discussion every now and again, but AoA is the game I was so invested in, I earned a Force user on three separate occasions; the first two I lost due to being on @vacation for summer-long competitive marching band shenanigans, and I lost the third when the game died in like… 2011.
…
So yeah. Like all games, it has fun potential. Would I go back if everything about Cujo and Hadrix gets disproven?
Why would I do that, when the Chontio code for Ares is public, and I am already working on trying to get Arx in my Star Wars and go full tilt with rosters and whatnot?
@eddie said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
I appreciate the candid responses, and the opportunity to provide a puzzle for the would-be predators to identify who I might or might not be. It’s interesting to see a community that lifts up victims of alleged transgressions, then go on a witch hunt in an attempt to identify any of those who would disagree with the narrative and go against the grain.
Oh, it’s because they get stuff from the admins.
Oh, it’s because they stand to benefit from receiving fake currency.
Oh, it’s because they get political capital in a game.
Oh, it’s because they stand to benefit from the friendship of a person they’re never likely to meet. You sure you want to go this route? Plenty of us were taking you at your word, but jumping into attack mode starts painting the same picture as when you were shouting about echo chambers. Which is to say… you’re actions aren’t disproving their argument, it’s giving evidence in support of it.
eta: … So I just remembered that the Hatchback also had a dead clown in the pilot’s seat. No, you couldn’t change the @desc of the room yourself, nor could you convince staff to change it for you, so you had to sit in the clown’s lap to fly.

i mean, i wasn’t taking them at their word. i have years of experience that i was going based on, assuming that it would come out eventually that this person who jumped in trolling and to defend the accused harasser is actually a friend who is actively benefiting from the relationship.
because, this is not my first rodeo. every single time a thread like this has happened (‘x is a bad person’), there has always been at least one friend who jumps in to defend them. flying monkeys are not unique.
-
As someone who was once friendly with someone the community viewed as toxic…
When the person in question is always complaining about everyone around them, it’s time to view them as the common denominator in everything

Eh, fair. Benefit of the doubt, then? Words hard.

I vote we stop feeding this troll and send them back to MSB. They don’t post receipts either, but they like to insist people should.
-
I just want to say. I read through all of this. Never played the game. I’ve interacted with the player in question on another game. But my post isn’t about that.
I am so sorry that all of you have been hurt. Either by this person or another person. This includes @eddie. I’m also sorry for those that have been hurt and feel their only avenue is to hurt back.
We are moving into a new year and every one of us (myself included) could do something better. We are not going to put the victims on stand and ask them to describe what they were wearing (aka logs). I’m just very sorry that people in here are hurting and I only hope that everyone on every side get the help and safety the need to feel complete and whole.
So really in closing to my adding but not adding. We all can make the choice to be kind and we should. I want each of you to know that no matter what you are so very cared for and worthy. I’m sorry you were a victim to any abuse in any form and on any format. You are more than that abuse. You get to be the one that defines you and I think you are worthy to every good thing and hope you come to believe it too.

@eddie Are you Sumi Kora? Cause if it is you also treated me like a prick when I made a Mando for another clan.
Sumi Kora gave my character (Violet Spectra) some shock gauntlets in a scene. Violet was a shockboxer and the gauntlets would have helped with melee stuff.
Now I really feel like I dodged a whole hail of blaster bolts.

So going back through the thread, I’ve counted 6 different individuals saying they have now or in the past have had issues with Cujo’s lax leadership specifically on AoA, and 5 individuals saying they now or in the past have had issues with Hadrix along similar lines to those described in the original post, specifically on AoA.
One of those people who mentioned issues with Cujo didn’t mention issues with Hadrix, and one who mentioned issues with Hadrix didn’t mention issues with Cujo. There were 7 individuals in total.
And all that is not counting any people who may have been mentioned in Kopecup’s post who haven’t individually come forward themselves.
There’s a further couple people who mentioned they had had bad experiences with ‘that person’ on other MUs but I wasn’t as focused on counting those and the lack of name made it a bit unclear who they specifically meant.
Additionally one of those people who came forward with accusations about Cujo and Hadrix, in the fourth post of this thread, said something along the lines of ‘Hey, I’m one of the people referred to in the OP, I have receipts and if it becomes necessary I’ll present them if I have to’.
I’m not sure how much stronger actual receipts could make the case at this point though. Because at this point either you think all those people are lying and bluffing for… some reason I guess, and so wouldn’t trust the receipts anyway. Or you already believe the allegations and don’t need the receipts.
So for those out there disbelieving the allegations I would genuinely suggest asking yourself why these people are creating a conspiracy against this random popular dude and the head wiz of this game. If you can’t find a compelling and reasonable answer for that, then that should probably tell you something.
And if by some chance you are actually able to come up with that compelling and reasonable motive for why these people have created a conspiracy then that seems like something you should share with the class?

This is quite amazing.
24 years in this hobby and it’s the same old patterns, over and over and over again. 24 years of ‘X is a creeper and staffer Y is protecting him’ from A, with B to G arriving to agree and support and #metoo. And then Z pitches up to defend X and Y by demanding evidence and discrediting A to G and discrediting the place we’re reading it on. At first it worked, because the world was a different place and we were younger and many of us hadn’t met it before, but as more happened and more came to light and the world around us changed, we’ve seen the patterns and realised what was actually going on.
24 years later, and while most of us have grown and changed and learned, it seems that X and Y and Z still think their old tactics work.
Find a new strategy, guys. This one’s old enough to go drinking with its mates in the USA, and has been for a few years now. We see you and we see through you, and we know that whether the original story was credible or not, people who use Z’s strategy are not to be trusted.
-
One accusation is concerning.
Two unrelated accusations is a pattern.
Any more than that is unquestionable guilt.
I’ve never seen a callout that deviates from these rules.

a bunch of people having the same correct belief is not an echo chamber lol

This is probably a cheap shot and a pile-on, but when I got back into MU*ing this year this was one of the first places I tried.
So I figured, hey, I have a character idea in this setting that isn’t particularly speshul, has plenty of examples in the canon, and can probably generate a lot of cool factional/cross-factional RP hooks (if you must know, it was an ex-Imperial/First Order/whatever turncoat who was like “I sure am tir ed of these Star Warcrimes”).
So I log on, read some help and setting files. Ok, this is goofy and some of it doesn’t make any sense. But I did what I usually do and ask a staffer about it. That staffer was Cujo.
Cujo goes on a bizarre and self-conflicting tirade about how this isn’t possible because nobody knows anything about the First Order, a faction that has been on the grid for years apparently and is well-known within the setting because “Disney hasn’t published any backstory on it.” Which is confusing, weird, and contradictory to the whole setting and then some additional unnecessary greasy fanboy ranting bullshit about how it’s all terrible.
Bro. BRO. It’s your game. You know you can write theme, right? And maybe you can update help files to be less opaque. Or maybe if you hate this setting so much maybe you should run a setting you actually don’t hate, or retcon shit to somewhat make sense?
Anyway, after a confusing 15-20 minutes of talking to this guy I decided he was a fucking herb and logged off.
-
Does any other Star Wars game exist/have the players there tried to create an alternative during the (to me baffling but there’s a sucker born every minute to pay server fees I guess) long time of this place’s existence?
I’d expect an alterna MU to have popped up by now given all…this (also the accusations against Cujo and Hadrix seem credible/consistent and that response channel by Hadrix was a big yikes, but such has been said).
-
Not about specifics in this game but personal reflection on generic ask for receipts - I should know, etc. Read at your own risk
.
There have been two times that I was falsely accused of something. I knew they were false, the people involved did not. Let me explain how that was handled.I was accused openly here around DWOPP (sorry to drop that name again). I said I did not do thing. I left it there. The community when on the other forum all went – this doesn’t track. However, I never asked for posts and pages, etc to prove why they would accuse me. I just calmly (I think maybe I was calm) stated I was not doing the thing. Then I avoided the person out of wait for it … RESPECT … to that person. Came out I was innocent (as it does when you are). Moved on. I didn’t hold the other person that accused me in ill will.
The other one (and it shook me) was claiming something against a very core belief of mine. Like my RL core belief. It hit me out of no where and I was very very upset about it. I’m still a bit upset over it. I did not do it and did not hold the belief that was being placed upon me for many reasons. When staff followed up with me (as they should) I was not upset at staff. I was upset at being accused, but not at the people involved. I was also horrified that something could be perceived that way. I NEVER asked for names of the accused. I NEVER asked for receipts of the the complaint. I only asked that the staff please tell the accusers that it was not what I meant and I was deeply sorry to make them feel this way. It came out there was another manipulation/whisper/etc from someone else and people that accused me apologized. I have NEVER held any of them in ill will nor would I.
So… cool story bro but point?
If you are innocent. You tend to state Not ME!, which is of course what you are going to do. You leave the people alone that are uncomfortable. You know the people that know you, know the truth and you wait for it to get sorted. So when people come in hot and start blaming other people that X did this. Y hit on this person. Z misunderstood. G should have told me it was a line crossed. W never… I tend to (perhaps wrongly) see this as rationalization of guilt.
I just want to put that out there.
That said. If you’ve ever had a bad thought about me you found out was un-justified and you are sitting in that feeling please know, I don’t hold your perceptions to what you are given against you. We base a lot on people we trust and some times those people don’t have our best interests at heart (also I have odd humor). Know you are fully forgiven as I don’t see a thing to forgive you for.
So… be kind and strive to do better. Truth always comes out. Maybe not in that moment, but it comes out.
-
I know I sort-of started it, but could we continue the future-maybe-possibly-potentially Star Wars game talk elsewhere? Thanks bunches.
ETA: Happy to split out posts for that purpose, too.

@Pavel Totally.

@eddie I was going to go off on a bunch of your earlier points, but several others already got there with very similar things to what I was going to say. Plus… Woah… I just got to this post:
@eddie said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
Truth of the matter is…
And I’m pretty sure that your own story tells us everything we need to know about you. You “invested” time, effort, and in-game currency into something and didn’t get the attention of a player you were interested in, the attention that you felt was your due.
You realize that putting in time, effort, and money into another person without a business deal involved is called “being a friend,” right? And that you aren’t owed anything for it? Particularly not anything of a sexual nature? There is no ROI on being a friend to someone, you do what you do because they’re your friend, not because you’re going to get something out of it.
