An RL friend got me into Harper’s Tale (Pern MOO) when we were in high school. I have long since lost touch with that friend, but I’m still MUing!

two men are dancing on a beach and one of them is wearing a pink shirt and blue shorts

It was my sister who got me into it when we were in jr. high or high school. I didn’t tend to play very many games at a time, so HT was my mainstay for a long time although I dabbled in others.

Years later when @Tat and I met on our X-Men game and staffed together we discovered that we had actually played together on HT which was fun.

Oh and first WOD was one NOLA game, Bourbon and Blood. I tried it because Katrina just hit and I was fifteen. It was humiliating to be fifteen on a WOD game.

It was. This is why I was 19 for like four years. You know, thinking back, it’s interesting no one ever questioned that the age never changed.

@bear_necessities I never got to the Vegas meet up. It looked fun, but I was a poor student at the time.

I do miss game meet ups in person! I’ve met some of my best and oldest rl friends that way, and we needed the in person meet ups because we annoyed each other on the games themselves until we met in person!

@Ominous It was both one of the weirdest and coolest ‘game’ moments I’ve ever had. I never LARPed before, so to see everyone in their garb and acting like their characters the whole time was so strange, but I got to meet some pretty awesome people. I’ve lost touch with the core group now mostly, but we stayed friends a long while!

Who did you play? I can’t remember my character’s name, I think it was Tourmaline. I had another alt too but fucked if I know what their name was.

ETA: Actually I looked through my email and apparently I was Madelynn.

@bear_necessities Me toooo, for playing there.

It was not my first game, tho.

My first mud was ancient anguish. My first muck/mush was Metro 1.0. I was a baby back then but had dipped my toes into vampire before with IRC rp rooms like #VampireNights. Back when I was a real baby and lying about my age.

I played Crossroads too, not my first game though. I played CDI (Castle D’Image - I think) too

I vaguely recall poking my head in on this game at some point, but I can’t remember an iota of what it was about. D’you have much recollection?

Lords and Ladies, magic and magical beings. I cannot remember the overarching plot as it was forever ago, but magic was in high theme and it was high fantasy.

My first RP focused MU* was FurrySpace MUCK before it got renamed to Stellar Convergence and before I really knew what furries were. I was certainly way too young to be there. Fortunately I don’t recall meeting any creepers or anything.

And then 10-15 years later made a character on Fear and Loathing, which was when I discovered this community I guess.

My first sniff of text-based RP was back in 1996 when I nosed around chat rooms on mIRC. Stuff like Transformers, anime misc. … a real hodge-podge that makes me cringe and smile. Formed some great bonds with folks, some of whom have passed away over the years.

First PennMUSH was in 2000/01 on Wing Commander: Red Horizon, followed by some Final Fantasy MU*s … again, lots of fond, warm memories but I wish I could cleanse my character lineup from those days with fire.

I won’t spam beyond this… if any of this rings a bell to anyone, feel free to drop a DM.

Seeing that it’s been nearly 30 years since I started this hobby, it’s time for me to take my back pill. c.c

I have no idea, I was like 9. Probably Dark Metal or CrackMUX or some superhero place I don’t remember the name of.
