Precedent has not only been set, Thomas has openly stated he thinks all SCOTUS substantive due process laws should be reconsidered, which include Griswald, Lawrence, and Obergefell. Those are Birth Control, Sex outside of Marriage, and Same-Sex Marriage respectively. Like, that’s an almost direct quote from his opinion. They already have their game plan on what they’re going after next. They are telling us what they are coming for.

Hey all!

MOD VOICE: We know that this is a very rough time in American politics, and believe me, we’re absolutely as angry and heartbroken as you are. We know you need to talk about things, vent and mourn.

However, when we created the board, we made a conscious decision not to have politics as part of the discussions here. What’s happening now goes way, way beyond a “peeve”, and unfortunately, this isn’t the place for the discussions that need to happen. We’re going to ask you to please have those discussions in the appropriate places and not on this board.

@Pyrephox Weird stance given that politics talk being shut down was one of the inciting incidents that created the board in the first place, but alright. I did have to go looking for the post where it was said not to, which… fair. Annoying, but fair.

I think (and I may be wrong) that you could start a politics board, but one doesn’t already exist. People can also opt out like is mentioned in Rough and Rowdy on how to.

This is what I think they mean. Again, I might be wrong.

While users can create new threads, they cannot create new categories. I believe that’s what you mean when you say new boards, yeah? We made a conscious choice not to include a politics category when we created this forum and right now that is not changing.

Politics isn’t a team sport. It’s life or death for many of us.

It’s not that we don’t think it’s important, so we won’t make space for it; in many ways, it is TOO IMPORTANT. This is especially true given the hands-off moderation stance I’d rather see on this board. We just don’t have the time, bandwidth, expertise, capacity, etc. to be able to moderate those discussions.

Planning a wedding. They suck. Not the wedding itself, but…everything around and involved with it.

I used to thinking mushing or running a mush was stressful. Then I learned the kind of hell I deal with when looking at various quotes for a suit or flowers or why my mother changes her mind about what dress she wants to wear three times a week. I barely have bandwidth for anything else these days.

Weddings are dumb. Except not. No, I’ll rephrase; the price of weddings are dumb.

@Testament I had a fantastic wedding. Budget was fine, the only incidents were funny in hindsight, great party, everyone seemed to have a good time, I still adore the guy…

And I STILL tell everyone to elope.
