What's your tell?

This post is deleted! -
oh, here’s a pretty big one – my standard greeting is usually “SUP NERDS” or some variant.
-
@Juniper Oh yeah the Australian spelling and timezones is probably a thing for me too!

The fact that many of you are listing things I would have considered my tells means they aren’t my tells, I suppose.
I feel I’m pretty fucking obvious, though, but couldn’t pin down why.
I can actually never tell it’s you. I’m always the last person to find out, and only when rude people snitch on you because they’re apparently better at @Selira-spotting than I am.
I won’t tell my tells. Except that I’m also a compulsive questions channel answerer, and that it physically hurts me when I consciously force myself not to in hopes of flying under the radar somewhere.

I know I have them (though there have been many times where apparently even people who know me well didn’t realize an alt was mine, that happened quite a few times with Edris, but I wonder if perhaps gender is involved there), but I don’t know what they are. I’m pretty sure most of my tells are OOC chatting.
I once tried to confess who I was to @dvoraen and he told me he’d figured it out months earlier from me talking on channels lol
It was more that I was PRETTY SURE it was you, but I can never be 100% unless you tell me. So 99.5% sure in that particular case.
-
My characters talk a lot.
Like, they can’t shut up.

So many of these would also apply to me:
- Meta commentary about my character lying or lovingly mocking them.
- So many broken sentences, em dashes, ellipses, a beat, etc. breaking up dialogue.
- A trainwreck with a heart of gold (or at least some goodness)
- @Pyrephox I also have been told I can be easily picked out by my PBs (maybe by the same person) which is mostly true
-

OK, this is probably a tell of mine, inversed:
Paragraph of body language, one or two words of dialogue.
I play pithy and/or strong silent types a lot.

Somebody told me this once but it was before they tried to guess which character I was playing on a MU without any prompting from me, and they were wrong. WRONG.

Yours is also being able to write the best 500 - 1000 word poses I’ve ever seen
-
All my characters seem to do over-the-top and extremely corny flirting which abruptly becomes absolute terror if anyone ever flirts back.
Using the word ‘before’ in nearly every single pose (eg: ‘The Sammich nervously butters its outsides, before carefully sliding itself into the toaster.’)
Using the word moment way too much (after a moment, takes a moment, The Sammich momentarily does a thing, there’s a momentary thing before)
Lips ‘quirking’ upwards. I don’t know why that’s the only word I ever seem to use to describe that.
Never actually doing any RP because I’m too anxious to ask for any (even from my friends).

@Third-Eye I’d say you have a pretty eclectic taste in characters.

Wait, these are all my tells too (not -quite- so much the first one, but the others). Either we’re clones, or they might not be the tells that we think they are.
-
I have a real problem with playing characters that are some sort of deadly (swords or guns, w/e the setting) but also whimsical in some way that’s supposed to be funny, weird, wholesome, etc. Having typed this, I now realize my tell is characters that fit into the MCU.

Em dashes, “a beat,” describing small changes in body language, “I mean,” characters with tactical knowledge/background, characters with sports knowledge/background, and answering OOC questions on channels.
Okay, I also do the first four of these things enough that I’m wondering if you and I escaped from the same lab.

@helvetica
A high compliment. And same! -
@Snackness @Tez is actually Napoleon though
