@RightMeow what assumptions were made about you? honestly asking, not attacking. from my skim of this, it seemed mostly to be people saying ‘i don’t like this general behavior’.
but there’s a lot of concurrent conversations and i am not really invested, so i am honestly asking to see if there was something i missed.

Probably one of the wildest things about this forum is the general disregard for decorum. To me that’s part of what makes it fun as entertainment but I have also operated under the assumption that most people who leaned into that were also aware of how going ham on internet strangers and embracing axiomatic thinking looks from the outside. Think I may have been wrong about that lol
-
I missed a BIG word in there. That was my bad, but I’ll leave the post because I can admit missing an important word. I missed ‘sometimes’ so when you skip a word that changes the meaning.
That’s why I was like daaaaaamn what did I do? I admit it. That was bad of me. I’m sorry.
This is a lot like when I was having an internet ‘disagreement’ and left out the word ‘not’ once. It happens.
Carry on. Sorry about that.
EDIT: I can also delete it if it hits feels or comes off as harsh when it was not what the original person intended towards me (I think).

It’s not disregard, we established our own decorum, which specifically flew in the face of the “keep the peace” kind of bullshit that gets people into the kinds of difficult situations we talk about.

I do figure most people here have some pretty wild thoughts about other people on this forum, but generally don’t voice them because we like RPing together and decide it’s just easier to quietly tolerate each other’s bullshit.
Yknow, like any other dysfunctional family.

@Pavel Great example! That is why I keep clicking the link every couple days, more if it’s getting spicy. I wouldn’t want y’all to change.

Or just a pond with more than one shark swimming around. The bitey kind of shark.

I’m gonna gently suggest that it’s more like this forum has a lot of trauma survivors and gets the occasional screwball like Warma who knows how to come in and start pushing everyone’s buttons.
He’s just like, an even shittier Ghost, imo, because he seems self-aware about it to some larger ambiguous degree and it comes off as intentional.
You can make the points he’s made occasionally as legitimate points. But it just seems like that’s not his actual goal in joining the conversation most of the time.
Also anyone who would be in inuki/wizard/spookitypook/whatever’s corner is a fuckin’ weirdo, just saying. That was some weird, wild shit and I can absolutely see why someone would find it at least a little traumatizing?

Nahhhh. If that were true, I’d have our lil resident War Machine on ignore already.

Ghost is 100% aware and it is 100% intentional.

I just know you can’t say either name three times without inviting a massive headache so, whatever, lol, all I meant is they’re both terrible and it’s better not to engage.

@Omen said in MU Peeves Thread:
Try to remember that there are people with feelings behind these staff bits that put a lot of their time and creative energy into something that didn’t work out in the end, and nobody could be more sensitive or aware of that reality than they are.
I hear you on this. 100%. That’s my bad.
If you or @Anhedonia, or anyone else, were offended or felt less by what I said, I’m sorry about that. Truly.
@KarmaBum said in MU Peeves Thread:
Plus, you’re jumping to the defense of someone I know for sure is telling lies about me and why I banned her.
So yes. I got beef with you.
This seems to be the thing. But it is an odd thing.
Because I’ve never said she wasn’t telling lies about you and why you banned her.
I never once talked about her on your game or her interaction with you or any of that.
I’ve never mentioned you and her together at all.So your beef with me seems to be that I don’t hate her intensely like you do. It seems like you’ve drawn battle lines and if I’m not with you I’m against you.
And that’s not a problem I can address. I can’t control if you decide to dislike me because I don’t shun someone else.
My take on the situation on her game was that she wasn’t the only one causing problems on her game. If you take that as a defense of her, you can, but its a weak ass defense of anyone. She acted badly. She wasn’t the only one. I won’t apologize for that opinion.
If you want to have beef with me over THAT, then you will. But that’s more about you than it is about me.

Was it really a “legitimate” grievance? Or was it a thinly veiled accusation that he CONTINUED TO MAKE even after the gamerunner came on the board to note that there are story purposes, etc? You say potato, I say po-ta-toe I suppose.
Yes. It was a legitimate grievance.
No, I did not continue to make it after the gamerunner responded. I was questioned, by you, as to why I would think that racist connotations would be a possibility and I explained my thought process as to why I was wary of the policy. I also acknowledged that the game policy was explained in my very next post right away and thanked the gamerunner for speaking up.

Well, that sucks. All of this sucks, really. I thought it was a one off, but I guess not. I’ve never really thought guilt-by-association was a thing, but I guess it really is.
So someone pushes this narrative that I defended @inuki (I didn’t, I just expanded the target), that morphs into me being in her corner, and the next thing I know I’m worst than Ghost? Yikes. People get offended when this place is called an echo chamber, but it really isn’t safe to have your own opinion here. You have to drink the kool aid or get roasted.
And I get that it isn’t everyone. And some very kind people have spoken up to point out some very obvious legitimate flaws with the things being thrown at me and the way they’ve been thrown. And thanks for that. Really, thank you. But man, things like this really make it obvious why so many people have peaced out from the community.
Believe it or not, I don’t come here to push buttons or rile anyone up. I wasn’t aware that there were so many people who had such negative feelings about me. I didn’t think most people gave a crap about me one way or another here. I’ve tried my best to not attack anyone (except for one person) and I think I’ve done pretty well at that. Obviously, some of the things I’ve said have made people feel some type of way that was never my intention. I may have failed at not offending anyone, but I definitely haven’t been outwardly hostile.
TL;DR: I thought I was adding to the community. It doesn’t really seem to be the case. The vocal opinion seems to be that I’m a troublemaker. So feel free to consider my voice and opinion squashed. My bad. That wasn’t what I was trying be about.

Just gonna say it: Warma might be a pain in the butt, but if almost anyone else had been the first to bring up that particular Concordia issue – like if helvetica had said it first rather than being the first to agree – it would not have gotten a response of “no one would ever care about this.”
not for nothing but this ^^ at least a little bit

Eh, a few loud voices aren’t the be all and end all. You just happened to hit on some particularly sensitive nerves one after the other in quick enough succession to leave a bad taste in some folks’ mouth, that’s all. Happens to the best of us.
I don’t know you from Adam, Eve, or the serpent, so I sure don’t hold any grudge against you. Certainly not enough of one to compare you to Mine Old Adversary.

for many reasons both mush related and not i’m really sick of the “keep sweet” mentality that is often pushed on people who push back when someone is being ugly. it’s honestly rather repulsive to me. i’ve had to deal with a lot through most of my life. i don’t feel particularly bound to be kind to someone who threw shade at a game runner about being irresponsible because the game didn’t last for the amount of time that they thought it would and then even insinuated that maybe they shouldn’t have made the game in the first place because of that. along with the ‘hmm if you’re not perfect maybe you shouldn’t say anything because you know you’re both not perfect’ stuff. that kind of stuff should have died in the 90s and i think it should be called out bluntly every single damn time.
The specific thing of a game closing down “too soon” has always baffled me, too. Like, I’ve never played a tabletop RPG that ended with a triumphant conclusion at exactly the right time for all players to feel like it was time to stop. Every game I’ve ever been in (as GM or player) has eventually stopped way before ‘its time’ because of…life things. Schedules no longer lined up, group blew up, GM burned out, whatever.
I adore you.
I know I’m late this discussion and now making this point about me, me, me, ME!
But, like.
If it is a crime to close a game “too early”, then hell I should be in prison for a life sentence. My longest running game was Darkwater and if I could go back in time and not add in werewolf, I would. But unfortunately I haven’t learnt to transcend space and time (damnit). I also burn out far faster than I used to. Back when the Darkwater wiki was still up I counted up all the scenes I ran and divided it by how long the game was up and I ran an average of 1.5-scenes a week for almost a year and a half.
Now, I schedule two scenes a month and half the time I end up having to reschedule b/c of real life issues or yell, I just don’t feel well enough.
I feel strongly that a game should end when a gamerunner no longer has passion for it, and while I feel for the players who felt like their stories were cut short-- the gamerunner is the arbitrator of the life of the game.

I don’t recall you jumping on the bandwagon of “Cobalt banned Macha because Cobalt wanted to TS Macha’s TS partner”. So I’m gonna pretty staunchly say you’re not near as bad as Ghost.
I did call you gross in the other thread because while you’re saying you didn’t defend Inuki it certainly came across like it. If that wasn’t your intention you might want to have rephrased some of the things you said.
Did I skim over a part where you acknowledged it was a terrible violation of privacy to log into a banned player’s character and toggle all their private RP public? If so I’ll retract my statement, but yeah-- yikes.

Darkwater was probably still one of the better MU* experiences I’ve ever had, you did a good job! I was trying to get into the wiki the other day to pull some of my own things, but alas, not even on the Wayback Machine.
Also! I feel like there are times when a game closes too late! I can give an example of this, especially wherein a game might close late because an original shutdown point was stated as such in the design document. Closing down at a particular date may be important as it might inform other systems. Let’s take XP for example, going past a particular time would have caused XP to explode exponentially, especially if it was on some kind of weekly timer.

@somasatori I, uh, don’t know at all what you are referencing sir.
ETA: That said, if I didn’t hate WoD with a passion these days I’d say we should finally make another game in our shared universe. Though I don’t think many people knew that Darkwater and The Reach were in the same universe.
