The most relevant piece of information here is probably the system you are pasting the data into rather than the fact that these are coming through email. Is this a cloud-based solution, or does your organization run it on premises? Is it one of the big ones or something nobody outside your org has probably ever heard of?

Multiple recs for Mob Psycho, so I’ll put that on my list too! After Apothecary Diaries and I guess my kid isn’t watching Demon Slayer with me and will instead re-watch Solo Leveling multiple times, lol.

Solo Leveling? Do we have someone else who is deviant enough to enjoy Isekai? Well, if you are, I have some recommendations that I will work on and post later.

As for Apothecary Diaries one of the questionable things in the show and I forgot to include it in the “cons” is that Jinshi (the eunuch) invades Maomao’s personal space and teases her in ways that require consent without getting said consent. While it is thematic for the setting for him to not need consent from a servant, I take slight issue with the fact that he wears her down and it leads to romance (the good ol’ just keep flirting and teasing her until she relents and falls in love with you trope) rather than him dying by poisoning from Maomao. I try to interpret it as Maomao subconsciously liking him but consciously not realizing it, as it is established that she has trouble understanding her own emotions, so his actions are somewhat welcome.

I tried to get into Frieren a few times but somehow it just didn’t click for me.

My take on Frieren is ‘cute, but so predictable I’m getting bored’
I do not fault people for liking it! I don’t necessarily DISLIKE it, but I can also only watch a couple episodes at a time.

(Tho most of the time if I feel like watching Frieren I end up watching Delicious in Dungeon instead.)

Yeah, it’s a cozy anime. It’s slice of life, a touch of romance, and a little bit of shonen action. And the shonen action is of the OP MC Isekai power fantasy variety, because Frieren was a member of the party that slayed the demon king, so of course she is going to crush almost anything like a steamroller does an ant. But it’s fun to watch the crushination.

There was so much drivel that I ghosted right past this but jesus christ it’s a hell of a thing to double down, triple down after someone has politely asked you “hey can you don’t?” and admin has already had to use the mod voice.

Honestly, guy, leap into the sun.

Sad to say there’s another one of these currently running for another member of the MU* community. If you’ve been on Ares games over the last few years, there’s a chance you know Cameron. And hey, if you won’t do it for him, do it for the cats. 🐈

@Jennkryst Yeah – those games were all before Nemesis was released, and chose to ignore it and part ways with the canon timeline.

There was one good thing about the time-travelling murder hobos, which is that everyone OOCly knew their secret, since logs of their actions were shared on the game wiki. Contrary to the arguments of OOC masq proponents about how impossible this is, the players kept it OOC knowledge. Some managed to figure it out IC in purely IC ways. Many players thought it was pretty shite game-writing to restrict knowledge of and action regarding a universal threat to a small group of PCs, and had no desire to support or cooperate with that element of the plot, but still I have no recollection of cheating being a problem.

@Superbia Just be aware that FS3 is not very “crunchy” and so does not have a lot of the kinds of systems you’d typically find in a TTRPG. Like for Mechs in Battletech - there’s no concept of heat, ammo, range, critical hits, etc.

For a light-touch story driven thing, FS3 vehicles would surely do fine. It’s just not going to resemble any of the “mech wargame” systems.

The important thing is to set expectations.

Agreed. Even the most well-thought-out story-based consequence can feel like a capricious punishment rather than an interesting story moment if there’s no communication and the player is blind-sided.

I think a lot of expectations seem reasonable on the surface–if games happened in a vacuum or were run by robots. They do not and are not.

I think everyone is happier in the long run if when they notice that they do not get a response in the amount of time before they start to feel resentful and this seems to be the rule rather than the exception either they need to accept that and play with what they have or it is time to move on.

Staying while mad and steeping in resentment poisons the experience even when it is your turn, and can also affect everyone you are around too. It doesn’t really matter why. If the Could/Should isn’t happening for you, it probably isn’t personal (unless thats your usual experience across different gamerunners and genres, in which case perhaps some introspection is needed). But it is good to make some realistic expectations shifts in how much mental energy and time you want to invest in a game where for whatever reason there’s a mismatch in what you get vs what you feel you’re giving.

And sometimes players need time off to recover from a previous bad experience elsewhere. Few things kill staff or storytelling morale (or player morale) than a player vomiting game trauma dumping all over them and having a huge chip on their shoulder about how other people have wronged them elsewhere and are unable to interact without mentioning it frequently.
