FWIW I’m a professional software engineer and I am 100% fine with people using AI to help write small amounts of MU* code, like CSS tweaks, as long as they’re comfortable with the fact that it might be weird and flaky code that’s extra hard to troubleshoot.

I would absolutely not build an entire codebase from an AI vibe-codey foundation, but that’s not at all an ethical stance, just a “wow holy shit that’s going to be impossible to maintain, please just use Ares or Evennia or something and read some guides” stance. Maybe in a few years it’ll be a 100% technically viable option and turn back into an ethical question, but by then I’ll probably be automated out of job anyway, whee.

AI slop in the content of a game will make me sadface, though.

Btw, I’ve absolutely had people ask me professionally if I used ChatGPT to write something, and it made me so deeply offended that now I deliberately swing my writing the other way and refuse to overly polish it. You’re just gonna get HELLA ADVERBS and run-on sentences and informal grammar from me, so there. Embrace my squishy human foibles.

Life got hard and complicated, so I didn’t sell over half of my Arx Cat Tarot Decks. I didn’t mind, that wasn’t the point of their creation, and I’ve never been good at selling my stuff.

As of last week, however, in a small town in Kentucky, a witchy metaphysical shop has opened up, and thanks to my biological father being himself and showing off my work to strangers, I have sold twelve to the store’s proprietor and she’s just put in an order for at least ten more.

She’s commending me for the imagery and symbolism and she’s using my cards to teach her weekly tarot classes.

Solo Leveling? Do we have someone else who is deviant enough to enjoy Isekai? Well, if you are, I have some recommendations that I will work on and post later.

As for Apothecary Diaries one of the questionable things in the show and I forgot to include it in the “cons” is that Jinshi (the eunuch) invades Maomao’s personal space and teases her in ways that require consent without getting said consent. While it is thematic for the setting for him to not need consent from a servant, I take slight issue with the fact that he wears her down and it leads to romance (the good ol’ just keep flirting and teasing her until she relents and falls in love with you trope) rather than him dying by poisoning from Maomao. I try to interpret it as Maomao subconsciously liking him but consciously not realizing it, as it is established that she has trouble understanding her own emotions, so his actions are somewhat welcome.

Yeah, it’s a cozy anime. It’s slice of life, a touch of romance, and a little bit of shonen action. And the shonen action is of the OP MC Isekai power fantasy variety, because Frieren was a member of the party that slayed the demon king, so of course she is going to crush almost anything like a steamroller does an ant. But it’s fun to watch the crushination.

I didn’t even realize Crunchyroll did an Anime Awards, but it also dawns on me that any Award ‘show’ presented by an anime company is probably going to be heavily biased.

Is there an Awards show for Anime independent of the companies that produce it somewhere else?

Solo Leveling definitely doesn’t stack up to a lot of those other shows ‘nominated’, but I won’t deny that I enjoyed watching it. Personally, out of those options, I enjoyed Dan Da Dan and Kaiju No. 8 the most. Can’t comment on Apothecary Diaries because it’s honestly not my thing, and I’m not done with Frieren yet, so I’m still deciding on that one.

honestly, the only reason I didn’t love it is because there was enough material there for at least one more season, if not two, without any real concern about filler. every “ONE YEAR LATER” smash cut made me wince and groan.
