@Deviant JK Rowling has claimed that she came up with the whole ‘wizard school’ idea independently of Yolen (in 1991), Pratchett (1983), Murphy (1974) and LeGuin (1968). LeGuin said that her own Roke Island wizard’s school was inspired by T.H. White having mentioned the folkloric wizard school Domdaniel in The Sword In the Stone (1938). Domdaniel is known to English speakers from One Thousand and One Arabian Nights. But Rowling says it’s coincidence, and the other authors have, wisely, not bothered to argue. @Arkandel i get unhappy when things are not about me???

@Ashkuri There is no war in Ba Sing Se and there are no sex pests on AoA. Any belief to the contrary is against the way of things. Self-report, then self-deport. /s

@Dreampipe I read this today and just the ‘end of an era’ aspect of it is a huge bummer, and I feel for all the people who lost their jobs, of course. Part of me is a little relieved at Mass Effect 5’s cancellation, though, I’ve gotta admit. I didn’t really want to see whatever the Saudi Wealth Fund Approved version of ME was going to be. The legacy of ME and DA (and BioWare’s other games) is still mostly intact for me on an emotional level, and maybe that’s the best we were gonna get at this point.

@Arik No idea!

Wisconsin let me the fuck down yesterday. It had one job. Whatever, I’m drinking myself into oblivion, because that’s what Sconnies do.

@somasatori said in Numetal/Retromux: To be fair, Jenn, I feel like the act of asking about unplayable/disallowed character types is kind of your version of MUSHing. In the Otaku-specific instance, at the time I entered chargen they were legal. There was some fuckery that occurred that I went over elsewhere and can go over again, sure why not. But later. Edit: Nagah are very much the unplayable thing I ask about, because sexy sneks. Mummies are more a meme at this point.

@dvoraen he’s had one bath in his entire life and he let me know very clearly that was NOT an experience he enjoyed, lmao I was actually very proud of him, he didn’t scratch me or anything but he was louder than I have ever heard him be, his meows are usually very subdued

I am not exactly excited with the new project I am on at work, but for once they aren’t violating ADAAA laws under the guise of “training is more important (than your health)”, and I’m getting a small raise next week putting me back to what I was making a couple of years ago (e.g. making up for pay cuts I got when being shuffled around).

@somasatori whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy [image: nooo-no.gif]

A lot of AI sucks, I can’t stand AI writing, and I hate what it does to artists, but I think there will be much more people in our hobby in five years than there is right now.

Just yesterday I said I was impressed that Liberation was going strong after its rough start. The recent alarm seems like the general slowness that happens this time of year. To compare, I only ran about 3 events during the entire holiday season on Silent Heaven, when I usually do at least 2 per week. I suspect things will gradually pick up as the solstice grows further behind us.

@Artemis There’s a group of us that’s adapting DnD rules into a post Second Reckoning campaign. One friend is doing a small module to apply to Arx and I’m creating a longer campiagn that’ll probably take place five years after putting Azazel back into his box. Will it be the same? Nah. Will it be fun? Probably.

I was holiday-ing, but it looks like the wonderful Terminus has replaced the stolen writing with a placeholder in my absence. To confirm, this is an OC, and the character has yet to be submitted for approval or anything, but if this desc makes its way back, even with tweaks, the app will be declined with explanation. If you’d like, @Roz, I can forward this player your rates for autographs

@moth pls be aware that matcha is delicious

I am but a week away from getting a computer capable of running baldur’s gate 3. Once I make sure the machine is actually going to work I’m going to buy it on steam. I cannot wait to play this game. I’m old and about to die so I’m going to spend the last few years of my life acting like I’m 14.

Pigeon Too Fat To Fly There was nothing special or secret about the pigeon. This just reminded me of it.

Wait, you all read the books?
