@Evilgrayson I will try to break this down and analyze it. Disclosure on my bias: I am not Siren’s ooc friend and I’m not in discord off game communication with her. I’m not and never have been very involved in her plots and am not a frequent role play partner of hers. That being said I like her and get along with her. In addition I tend to favor staff in these sorts of debates as I feel like staffing is easier said than done and there is always going to be someone who isn’t happy. I also weigh in that staff are unpaid volunteers with their own real life responsibilities. I believe Siren is being accused of stealing the game, showing favoritism, not answering jobs, not keeping the game active, dropping role players who don’t role play to her preference and keeping abusive players around. Stealing the Game: Sundance has been inactive for a very long time and was less and less active before she fully left. I have no hard feelings as real life first and hope she is well. Siren I am pretty confident had and still has Sundance’s blessing and somebody needed to step up or Liberation won’t be staffed. I don’t think she stole, I think she was given. Showing Favoritism: I don’t know, I’m not deep enough into things there to know. Most staffers are eventually accused of this. It’s a bit subjective. Also at the end of the day staff are people who will role play with those they enjoy and staff who try to tough it out and role play with those who irk them usually burn out. Not Answering Jobs: yes this did happen, but I don’t judge harshly as staffing is tons of work and Siren was doing it mostly on her own for a while and likely started with a huge back log. This is also my answer for not keeping the game active. She also has a family irl. Dropping role play partners: I would need receipts on this. What role play choices did she cut people off over? Sometimes there is a valid reason. Keeping Abusive players around: There is a couple abusive players around. I have faith that when they act abusive under her watch she will act as she did with Addison. I don’t think Addison was the most problematic player there and I have concerns about a player there who has been banned on most other games. Because of this one player I do kind of agree with this complaint against Siren. This player is in best behavior mode right now as Liberation is really the only WOD that will have him. He can be charming and likable when he tries and has been laying it on thick to Siren. Still I think when he goes back to his bad ways Siren will take the ethical action. Time will tell how this will go. I suppose there is also a small unlikely chance he sincerely changed.

I just got an email from livejournal for a pern lj I kept in 2007 (apparently a ‘friend’ is celebrating their 15 year lj anniversary). Pern mushes and livejournal. I did sooo much writing associated with those games.

I think pre-planning can be fun, and even a Good Idea, especially if you’re looking for something that’s potentially intense or sensitive. Being on the same, explicitly stated page about what the expectations are for a connection isn’t bad! But it ultimately does come down to being able to trust another player, because unfortunately, people will absolutely agree to X while wanting Y and figure they can just “persuade you later”.

I was thinking about this earlier today (literal shower thoughts), or a little bit in parallel. About what characterized the games I’ve felt the most success on. Disregarding basic things like “I need there to be people around to RP with whose RP styles and schedules generally mesh with mine” and “I need staff to not be creepers and not allow creepers” – those will go without saying. But I realized that one of the biggest things for me in the DNA of a game is: A sense of discovery. This is achieved on a small scale with just characters getting to know each other, because that’s two people on a lifelong discovery of new details about each other. But what really thrills my brain is when there are mysteries and unknowns to the world on some level, and part of playing on that particular game is figuring out more about those.

Resurrecting to share something I’ve been making pretty frequently because it’s really tasty and is a quick way to get my protein even on the fly (i double batch it) or to toss into a salad or whatever if i’m having to make a lunch for work last minute). I love all things smoky/burnt-ish, plus these things are nice and chewy too (also a lovely texture for me). I thought i’d share! the partner and kids tend to steal these too when they’re right out of the oven. Plus it’s easy and takes minutes to prep and just 20 minutes to bake. Tofu Crumbles About 400g Tofu (firm or extra firm, pressed so excess water is removed, I don’t bother pressing if it’s fresh/not packaged in water) 2 tsp paprika 1/4 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1 tbsp nutritional yeast 1 tsp sea salt 2 tsp liquid smoke 1 Tbsp oil of choice (i prefer avocado or sunflower for this one), or oil spray of choice. Preheat oven to 400F Combine all dry spices in small bowl and mix well. Crumble the tofu into a large mixing bowl, crumb sizes should be chunky breadcrumb (stuffing?) sized but i like to have some bigger chunks in there too and the teeny ones get all nice and crunchy so it’s fine. Put the spice mix in with the tofu and toss until everything is coated evenly. then pour in liquid smoke and toss again. Spray a baking tray well with the oil spray or spread the oil in the pan. Put pan in the oven at temp for a couple of minutes until it starts to smoke a bit (around 5 minutes but if you’re using spray might wanna watch this closely). Pull out tray and dump the crumbles on it, spread them evenly and return to oven for 20 minutes, stir about halfway through. Once they’re done if you let them cool for about 5-10 minutes they get even crispier! I think they’re great over the next few days (store in fridge) but they don’t really last at my house more than one extra day.
